Eerie Silence

-

An eerie silence shrouded the air,

Unusual that was,

As kids were part of the daily affair.

An armed troop was the reason,

For the vibrant air to turn chill,

Even during this festive season.

Two shots, one hit the wall,

And one to the tree,

Was enough to make everyone appalled.

Birds flew away,

Deserted were the trees,

As the lifeless children lay on the way.

Silenced were they,

For no fault of theirs.

As all they dared is to laugh and play.
