Dust and fragments
Covered the earth,
That once was a garden.
Instead of cherries on trees,
It now had dried blood,
And pieces of human flesh.
Pebbles were replaced,
With empty shells
And metal fragments.
The greenery gave way to,
Grey, black and red…
The colours of devastation.
The cheerful chirping was muted
Instead, heart wrenching cries
Echoed throughout.
The streets were graveyards,
With the survivors hovering around,
To look out for their dear ones.
Why do we need a war,
That disrupts happiness.
Why do we need a war?
