Who doesn’t wish to be transported to a magical land. That is what ‘Forests and Faeries does to the reader. Let me start with the cover that speaks magic through the pleasing purple colour and the silhouette of a fairy in the centre. The cover is indeed captivating.
Through 13 stories, Srivalli has woven words that are truly enchanting. All the stories were indeed magical but a few really stayed in my heart for long.
The Deal : We have often connected rabbits to the moon in our mythology, and The Deal does the same. A heart warming start to this story group.
Mira Learns a Lesson : Siblings, don’t they always fight and hide their affection for each other. Mira and Jai are no different. Mira wants to get rid of Jai, but what happens when he actually disappears? When the sibling story is mixed with some fantasy built around the backdrop of a dense forest, it makes a wonderful story.
The Tooth Faerie’s Friend : Elle and Mel, the two little tooth faeries prepare themselves to visit the houses of little children. Elle sounds frustrated with the demands that the children have. On the other hand, Mel is softer. Elle meets Abena and that interaction changes her life. This story can make even the adults believe in tooth faeries.
The Abandoned House : Going back to native, listening to our parents’ childhood tales always piques our interests. Adi’s story is no different. He enjoys listening to his mother Shilpa’s childhood adventures that she had with her friends Geeta, Afroz, Naresh and Shyam.
This book is a wonderful read for all fantasy lovers.
