Echoes of April 13, 1919

The crowd was manageable and quiet,
Hold on!! Was that a quietude before a riot?
The silence in the air shattered,
The crowd, was just scattered,
When the word FIRE… echoed,
Through the walls of Jallianwala Bagh.
Fire paved the way to blood shed,
Around 1500 fell dead,
The walls bore the brunt,
Of the monstrous manhunt.
Blood splattered all over,
Flesh burned as people jumped into the well.
Cries echoed and ceased,
Tears dried up seeing the deceased.
Indians were angered at this massacre,
The brutal one that could occur.
The walls of Jallianwala Bagh,
Still echo the laments of April 13, 1919.
