Title : The In-Between (Stories and Poems from the threshold)

Author : Multiple Authors

The Content Palette

An anthology of poems and stories written by 15 writers that talk about changes, moments that shaped lives in unexpectable ways and self-discovery. Every piece of work is crafted so delicately that it touches the heart of the readers. I plan to give a  one line review for each title in the book.

Curiosity Bar by Umm Musab talks about coming out of life.

Some Mornings Stay by Kiran Motwani is a heart warming tale that talks about love.

At the Crossroads by Vini K talks about the journey that one takes standing at a crossroad taking self as the motivation and going ahead.

The In-betwixt of my Life by Jay Nagda gives us the mantra, and I quote –  “Life is not about going back or moving forward; it is about planning and the In-between of both.”

13 – Vikhyat Sinha holds on to the superstition of the number 13 through the story of Dr. Koli. I liked the narration and the way he encounters the number 13.

Between the Idea and the Page – Sameen Khan has a touch of mystery to it.

In Persona, Yash Katte talks about the inhibitions and fears that we have and how we should overcome the same by just believing in ourselves.

Bombay to Goa by Alina Roby had me feeling sad for Misha as well as Rahul. Had she waited to get down at Ratnagiri; Had he told her the exact place where he would be waiting for her. Had things turned out in their favour!

Between Hesitation and Trust by Manisha Vishal talks about the confusion and last minute jitters that a bride could have. This story seemed so personal.

The Birth of Motherhood by Rifa Khan took me back to my motherhood journey. The doubts, the fears and the smiles and tears came alive as I read through the poem.

Kya Mottappa! (Hey Fatso) by Vini K – what seemed as an infatuation and how the tale developed, Vini needs to be credited for the narrative. I loved the last line of the story!

Five Weeks and Five Days by Insha Amir Khan was poignant and heavy. Pregnancy, relationship and the way Sarah and Kevin rediscover their relationship, wow!!! Multiple emotions packed well into a single tale. Kudos to the writer.

A Tale of Tyranny of Expectations by Dr. Bhavana Bhagat will make the reader feel for Grandpa Parth. It brings out the situations that exist around us where elderly care is neglected.

Patriarch by Vikhyat Sinha a poignant tale of revenge, caste and superiority. I liked the way Halfman was portrayed and would have loved to read more about him.

Silent Daughters by Nida K brings to light the cruel practice of female infanticide which is prevalent in this modern society. The title is so apt!

An Endlessly Spiralling Hope: But Another Dream, May be! by Dr. Bhavana Bhagat talks about life that should move on. A dream that gets fulfilled or life that reflects and learns from the past with a hope that it is for good.

11:59 by Afreen Khan, an eye opener on a delicate topic that serves as an awareness to the society. Very well written with imagery stealing the show.

In Between Breaths by Manisha Vishal is a story that is full of hope and the never-give-up attitude. Told through the lenses of Madhu, who has been a helping hand in his society, the author cleverly handles the portions that reveal the medical condition and the way Madhu handles it. The tale tells us to keep going and never lose hope and the urge of living.

The Edgeless Sword by Afreen Khan talks about facing life in the same way it approaches us. It tells us to march ahead despite the hurdles that are thrown towards us.

When We Have Time – Nida K – If life was a book and every chapter a new day, would you want to continue reading or stop it in between? Read this story to understand further. One of the most heart-warming stories.

Between Wound and Healing by Rifa Khan explores the reality of life through the eyes of the protagonist, the unnamed war paramedic.

Overall, this collection is very heart warming. Written in simple language, the authors have touched upon several delicate topics and have expressed their thoughts really well.
