Scarred for Life

by | Jul 2, 2026 | Poetry | 4 comments

Heart wrenching were the visuals,

Those cries could even melt a stone.

A trust was breeched,

When this horror unleashed.

Ask a mother, how she feels,

When she leaves her child,

in someone else’s care,

Trusting, hoping for the best

Was it an easy decision?

Well, it is not.

Sometimes life doesn’t give us choices,

We just have to comply.

Hey caretakers, aren’t you humans?

Toddlers they are,

Who look up for compassion and love,

And not tyranny.

Toddlers they are, not criminals,

Then why this treatment,

To the ones who are,

still learning to speak and walk.

Petrified parents,

Society seething with anger,

Will ensure extreme punishment

To the perpetrators.

Imagine the toddlers,

Who are by now scarred for life,

The fear could cost them dear.

Hey caretakers, aren’t you humans?

Why unleash this terror?
