Bharathi

He didn’t wage a war,

But his powerful voice was heard really far.

Wars needn’t be fought with swords and guns,

He proved that with his paper and pens.

His words were those tiny pellets

That fell on the enemy like a shower of bullets.

His impactful poems spoke about our predicaments

Towards patriotism, societal reforms and women empowerment.

Known for his fiery tongue and ink,

Towards the motherland his eyes never did blink.

Mundasu Kavi, he was fondly called,

Subramanya Bharathi, a name that left the Britishers appalled.
